How to convert a proxy list
- Paste the list or open a .txt file: one proxy per line. Lines in different formats can go together, the converter reads each one on its own.
- Choose the format you need and, for links and code, the protocol.
- Copy the result or download it as a file.
Proxy formats the converter reads
| Format | Example |
|---|---|
| ip:port:user:pass | 203.0.113.10:8000:user:pass |
| user:pass@ip:port | user:pass@203.0.113.10:8000 |
| Link with a protocol | socks5://user:pass@203.0.113.10:1080 |
| protocol://ip:port:user:pass | http://203.0.113.10:8000:user:pass |
| ip:port@user:pass | 203.0.113.10:8000@user:pass |
| user:pass:ip:port | user:pass:203.0.113.10:8000 |
| ip:port, without a password | 203.0.113.10:8000 |
Columns copied from a spreadsheet work too: ip, port, user and password separated by tabs, spaces, | or ;. Instead of an IP, a line can have a host name such as proxy.example.com. IPv6 addresses go in square brackets: [2001:db8::1]:8000.
Proxies as code for curl, Python and Playwright
Choose curl, Python requests, Playwright or JSON, and the list comes out ready for a script. curl gets one command per proxy that prints the IP address the proxy goes out from (it asks api.ipify.org). Python gets a list for the proxies parameter of requests, Playwright gets server, username and password for each proxy, and JSON gets every part as a separate field.
HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5: which protocol to choose
The protocol tells a program how to talk to the proxy. Use the one your proxy seller gives: many proxies answer on one protocol only. The converter keeps the protocol written in the list, and lines without one get http://. To set one protocol for the whole list, choose it next to the format.
Passwords with special characters
A password may contain a colon: in ip:port:user:pass, everything after the user counts as the password. In links, characters that mean something in a URL, such as @, : and /, are written as %40, %3A and %2F, as the URL standard requires. Programs such as curl and Python requests decode them back.
FAQ
Is it safe to paste proxies with passwords here?
The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript: the list isn't sent to the server or anywhere else. Once the page has loaded, it works without the internet too.
Does the converter check that proxies work?
No. It only rewrites the lines: nothing connects to the proxies.
How do I remove logins and passwords from a list?
Choose ip:port. A proxy that needs a password won't work without it, unless the seller lets your IP address in without one.
How do I remove duplicate proxies?
Turn on «Remove duplicates» under the result. A proxy is a duplicate when its address, port, user and password are the same as in a line above, and for links and code the protocol too. The same gateway with different users, such as one per session, stays.
Can I convert to my own format?
Yes: choose Custom and type a template with {ip}, {port}, {user}, {pass} and {protocol}, for example {ip};{port};{user};{pass}.
What happens to lines the converter can't read?
They're left out of the result and listed under the converter with their line numbers, so you can fix them.
What is socks5h?
The same SOCKS5 proxy, but the proxy looks up domain names instead of your computer, so these requests go through it too. curl and Python requests understand socks5h://. The converter keeps socks5h from the list.
